JOURNEY TO LOFOTEN
Svolvær is Lofoten’s «capital» and is also our base during your stay. You have several options if you want to come to Lofoten. We organize all transport for you if desired.
We are members of Reisegarantifondet ensuring a safe financial delivery.
Svolvær Airport Helle
The Airport is located just 5 minutes by car from downtown Svolvær. Widerøe has more connections a day from Oslo Airport via Bodø and SAS is in cooperation with Widerøe. This is slightly more expensive than other options, but also the only direct access and the least time consuming. Bodø also has connections to other parts of Norway.
Evenes Airport Harstad/Narvik
The airport is approximately a 2-hour trip by bus / car from town over the relatively new mainland connection «Lofast». SAS and Norwegian is a slightly cheaper deal, and you can fly several times a day roundtrip to Evenes Airport from Oslo. If you start to look for tickets early, you can get plane tickets for about one thousand NOK per person roundtrip, and be in Svolvær by 1:00 p.m.
An intriguing possibility is to add a day trip with Hurtigruten. Take a direct flight to Bodø and start the trip on board with lunch at 12:00. The ship travels from Bodø at 15:00 hours and it takes six hours to Svolvær through the Vestfjord and by historic Stamsund. This gets you snugly in to Lofoten at a day’s journey from Gardermoen and you arrive Svolvær at 21:00 at night. If you fly to Evenes Airport Narvik/ Harstad, you need to calculate a day extra travel, with accommodation in Harstad before you, in the morning, take Hurtigruten southbound on perhaps one of the finest stretches the boat has to offer. You arrive Svolvær at 18:00 in the afternoon, and in the summer season you get to experience the wonderful Trollfjorden on this boat ride.
